Kole's First Birthday!

Wow, can you believe it!? Our little man will officially be one tomorrow! This year has gone by so quickly. We've learned a lot as parents and continue to learn and grow each day with Kole.

Dan and I just sat and took a look through his pictures from birth through his party on Sunday. He has gotten SO big. Dan uploaded pictures and videos - here are the links to get to them.

Busy, busy...

My, the holidays are a very busy time! We've been busy getting the house ready for sale and things ready for the holiday. We've got lots of family visits coming up and we're so excited for Kole's first Christmas!

Sorry I've been MIA this week - haven't been feeling all that well. In good news, however, my mom's biospy came back all clear from her lung! Woo hoo!

There's a storm coming!

I get the award for silliness today...I decided to go grocery shopping at 2 in the afternoon the day before a "storm." Holy moley! I think half the town of Morgantown was at Giant Eagle stocking up to be snowed in for a week. Sheesh. I guess I am not used to people freaking out like this. Growing up a "storm" was 1 -2 FEET of snow. We would need at least 6 inches to have a delay for school. Around here a dusting to 3 inches gets the kids two snow days.

Dan and I are so fortunate to have such a wonderful baby boy. We went to dinner tonight with some friends at Mariachi Loco and Kole was SO well behaved. He didn't fuss or scream like a lot of kids his age do. He was quite the gentleman and waited for everyone to get their food before he started eating his mango. We love our little man!

It's only been like a YEAR

So....it's only been a year since I posted on here. Not much new to report other than the birth of our first child, the completion of our home remodeling, and the upcoming sale of our house. Nothing major.

HA! Ok. So, pretty major changes have happened over the last year. Kole Alexander decided to join the family on January 18. Two days after Mommy's birthday. Good thing she and Daddy got to go out for a nice dinner for said birthday, 'cause that hasn't happened since! He was a little early, but was very healthy. And is still very healthy. Growing like a little weed. I swear every day he grows another 1/4 inch :-) Pictures to come.

And yes, the home remodeling is complete! It only took 11 months to get the complete set of kitchen cabinets, but it was worth it. It looks great and is so much more baker friendly :-) I have been utilizing it and the Kitchen Aid like crazy the last week or so.

And the house is on the market! For real. Officially. We have one person who has expressed a lot of interest in it, so we are keeping fingers and toes crossed that it works out. Then comes the fun part of figuring out where to live before we get out to "Misty Meadows." A trailer, an apartment, a card board box? And yes, Dan wants to rename it from Misty Meadows. Suggestions welcome.

I promise I'll be better at keeping up at this thing. Pictures of the baby, the cats, the baby, my baking adventures, and the baby. And perhaps some videos of the baby. And the cats. But, more than likely the baby. I think that pretty much covers it!

Another BIG update....

So, I see that I haven't been updating....in a while! There has been a TON that has happened since my last post.

The biggest and most exciting is - we're expecting a baby BOY on February 20. Lots of exciting things have happened with the pregnancy. He's been moving like crazy lately...the other night it felt like he was going to round house kick his way out of the womb! Glad that he's doing well and the doc says he's measuring three weeks ahead! Guess we need to be expecting a BIG baby! Dan and I were both 8 pounders, so I'm sure he'll be just as big.

The other big news in the Nawrocki household is the kitchen remodel. The remodel started the end of June with a complete kitchen gutting. It is crazy the things that Dan found ... but, all is well now. Dan's dad came to town over July 4th to help out and it was a nice visit! I wish I could have enjoyed the salmon at dinner, but first trimester naseua was horrid!

The whole layout of the kitchen is changed. It looks absolutely wonderful. We're still waiting fr more cabinets, but we're completely functional right now. We can't wait until the spring when we can utilize the new patio doors more! Dan has done an amazing job and I'm so proud of him!

I'll try to do a better job keeping this thing updated :-)

Time to update

So...a LOT has happened since my last blog post....

Well, maybe not a LOT, but one BIG thing. Dan and I bought 53 acres of land in Lumberport, WV! We are really psyched about the purchase. There's about 20 acres of so that are clear and the rest is wooded. There is a lovely knoll upon which we are going to build our house.

We are thinking a log house would be fantastic. Dan wants to incorporate passive heating and cooling aspects into the design. We're going to try to keep it so that the only monthly utility we'll have is electric. We will try to get Hughes Net or some other sort of satellite internet service provider so Dan can stay up to date with work things. And drilling a well and putting in a septic will help cut out those bills, too. Granted, it will be more of an up front cost, but the pros of living more off the grid far outweigh that. We're also looking into compostable toilets. Sounds weird, I know, but it seems like it'd be a great option for us.

Now, we are toying around with a bunch of ideas for how to best make use of the land. We've had several ideas: garden (duh!), fruit trees, herb garden, vineyard (perhaps to make some of our own wine someday), and horses. We are open to ideas! Oh - and we have a TON of blackberry bushes! We're hoping to be able to pick enough to go to the Farmer's Market.

In other news...our CSA drops start this week. We're very excited for this - it's a great way to support a local farmer and get some really great produce. And it's a great way to cut down on costs during the summer. With the addition of the mortgage from the property, we are all about cutting costs.

I wonder how people do this blogging thing to make a living? I'd love to find out!

A beautfiul March day!

Well, I created this blog in January with hopes of updating it often. Ha - it's nearly two months later and I am just now making my first post!


It's a beautiful day! 65 and sunny! We're taking the boys for a vet appointment this afternoon. We're kind of concerned about Dale. He has ballooned to 22 pounds. While he is adorable being so big, I'm concerned that he might have thyroid problems or "the sugar." Hopefully the vet will provide some insight for us!


We've been actively trying to clean up our diets a bit. I have been perusing blogs regarding artificial sweeteners - high fructose corn syrup, sucarlose, aspartame, etc. I am finding now that I have cut them out of my diet, anytime I do have them - I feel it! Scary stuff. We tried to watch "The Future of Food" last weekend, but it is a very dry movie, so we'll have to watch it when we're both awake!
